As winds up to 70 miles per hour began battering Hawaii Thursday, businesses closed and residents sought shelter. Overnight, Iselle weakened from a hurricane to a tropical storm but still brought rising surf and heavy rains. Officials say more than 1,200 people flocked to evacuation centers across the Big Island. About 5,000 residents lost power - mostly in East Hawaii. As Iselle moves past the island, attention will turn to Hurricane Julio -- following closely behind. Julio was upgraded to a Category 3 storm Thursday. Its maximum sustained winds increased to ner 120 miles per hour. Officials say that storm is expected to weaken through Saturday and pass just north of Hawaii.
