More air strikes on Gaza. Video from the Israeli Defense Forces purports to show the moment of impact on a Hamas target, after Palestinians fired dozens of rockets into Israel. This latest round of air strikes comes after Egypt-mediated talks to extend a 72-hour truce fell through. At least five people were killed in the strikes. For one man living in Gaza -- total loss. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) FATHER OF MAN KILLED IN AN ISRAELI AIRSTRIKE, MOHAMED ABUHADAF, SAYING: "We were all sitting; my children were sitting on one side and me and my wife was sitting on the other side drinking tea, and then there was the strike. I saw only pieces of flesh. I couldn't differentiate between the bodies." Hamas blames Israel for the failure of the talks. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) HAMAS SPOKESMAN, SAMI ABU ZUHRI, SAYING: "We accuse the Israeli occupation of wasting time. As a result the truce was not extended today because we were convinced that the occupation was not taking any steps to encourage us to extend the truce further." Among the casualties was a 10-year-old Palestinian boy who was near a mosque in Gaza city. Police in Israel said at least two people were injured in mortar fire from Gaza. Cairo has called on both countries "to return immediately to the ceasefire commitment." But still no sign of a deal.
