ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Hundreds of Palestinians across the West Bank clashed with Israeli security forces on Friday (August 8) after street demonstrations, as tensions over the ongoing crisis in Gaza increased. In Hebron hundreds of men and women flocked onto the streets holding Hamas flags in solidarity with Gaza, in a protest that ended near an Israeli checkpoint, where soldiers clashed with Palestinian youths. The Israeli army said that they used tear gas and a skunk truck to disperse protesters in Bethlehem where youths also held a protest to support the Gazans. Downtown Ramallah city protesters held Palestinian and Hamas flags to show their support with their people in Gaza and they supported the Palestinian delegation who is negotiating for a truce deal in Cairo. A 72-hour ceasefire expired at 8 a.m. local (0500gmt) after negotiators in Cairo failed to agree to extend the truce. Fighting resumed with Palestinians firing rockets at Israel and Israel launching air strikes in response. The Israeli military said Hamas had fired at least 18 rockets from Gaza and Israel's "Iron Dome" interceptor system brought down two. Gaza militants said they had fired 10 rockets on Friday. In the first casualties since hostilities resumed, Palestinian medical officials said a 10-year-old boy was killed in an Israeli strike near a mosque in Gaza City. In Israel, police said two people were injured by mortar fire from Gaza.
