Washington wildfire prompts evacuation preps

About 8,300 acres are burning in Washington state, and residents are preparing for the worst. Nathan Frandino reports.

Flames and smoke are on the move in Keller, Washington, where more than 8,000 acres are burning. Residents were told Thursday to be ready to evacuate. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DARLENE HANEY, HOMEOWNER, SAYING: "I immediately panicked and started thinking what do I need to pack?" The Haney family gathered all the items they say can't be replaced. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DARLENE HANEY, HOMEOWNER, SAYING: "First I started looking around for tthigns that our four grown sons had made for us and their wives. Then I started grabbing the many, many plastic containers of photographs that we had and our computer." Wildfire crews were struggling to contain the fires... and Darlene Haney was anxious. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DARLENE HANEY, HOMEOWNER, SAYING: "I was very shakey and thinking that we could lose the home is very difficult." More air support and hot shot teams are expected to join the fight Friday.
