Nine-year-old Saja Zoughroub, from Gaza, shouldn't be alive.
Witnesses say she's the sole survivor of an Israeli air strike that killed 13 members of her family on August 2nd, including her parents and siblings.
'We were asleep', she says.
'Some were watching TV'.
'When I woke up, I was in the ambulance' ...That's what I remember.'
Saja's uncle says her family had hoped to find refuge from Israeli strikes at an aunt's house, in Rafah.
But Rafah is just where a barrage intended for Hamas militants had brought widespread damage.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) UNCLE OF SAJA, AHMED ZOUGHROUB, SAYING:
"We got a phone call that the house had been attacked, it was a house full of women and children; there were no members of the resistance inside it. They attacked it using an F16 (plane), without even warning them. "
Gaza officials say the war has killed close to 1,900 Palestinians, mostly civilians.
A meaningless number to a young child, who only knows her family is gone.
