The 6.3 magnitude quake hit Ludian County a week earlier at a time when many people were at home. Thousands of buildings were razed and nearly two thousand people injured. In the drizzle, around one thousand people gathered in Yunnan Province lighting candles to commemorate the victims. (SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) VOLUNTEER, LUO LIHONG, SAYING: "I think that people came to participate in this event so that they can let us remember this earthquake. So many people came to pray for those hit in the disaster zone, for those people who died, so that they may rest in peace." Yunan province is one of China's most quake-prone regions.
