ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
A large crane hoisted the shuttle replica Independence atop a 747 shuttle carrier aircraft at the Space Center Houston on Thursday (August 14).
Crews began lifting the Independence at 8 a.m. The replica will stay atop the 747 permanently.
The nonprofit Space Center Houston hopes to showcase the replica and the 747 in an eight-story exhibit.
But first, the space center needs to raise $2.2 million more, which is needed to complete the exhibit. The money is part of its $12 million capital campaign.
