Football team takes on Ice Bucket Challenge with dump truck

A high school football team in Minnesota takes the ''Ice Bucket Challenge'' one step further by drenching themselves with a dump truck filled with freezing water. Vanessa Johnston reports.

It's one of this summer's biggest viral trends: the "Ice Bucket Challenge." Thousands of people -- from celebrities to athletes to firefighters -- are dumping freezing water on their heads. The stunt is aimed at raising awareness of ALS, a neurodegenerative condition, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. But the football team at St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, took it a step further. (SOUNDBITE) (English) HEAD FOOTBALL COACH BRENT KUCERA SAYING: "We got challenged by our St. Mary's Volleyball team and to get back at them we are going above and beyond the buckets and raising money for ALS." So they brought in a dump truck and filled it with ice. Then, when it had melted... NATS -- Dump truck filled with water tipping over, drenching football team (SOUNDBITE) (English) HIGH SCHOOLSENIOR JON KOPACEK SAYING: "I mean it was cold but I think I was more drawn down by the weight of the water." Overall, the team managed to raise a total of $2,000 for ALS.
