ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) A hostage situation in a surburban Chicago neighborhood has ended peacefully. Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart says authorities took down the front door and entered the home in Harvey, Illinois on Wednesday morning nearly 20 hours after the standoff began. Two children and two adults were recovered safely from the second floor. Authorities took the suspects into custody. No shots were fired during the incident. The standoff began Tuesday when police responded to the home for a burglary call. When officers arrived, gunfire was exchanged with the suspects who then barricaded themselves in the home and took the people inside hostage. Four children were released safely during ongoing negotiations. The sheriff says there is no known relationship between the suspects and the hostages.
