NASCAR driver Tony Stewart says accidentally killing a fellow driver earlier this month will affect him forever, but that returning to racing this weekend will help him deal with the tragedy. Linda So reports.

NASCAR champion Tony Stewart will return to racing this weekend, his first competition since he struck and killed 20-year-old Kevin Ward earlier this month at a race in upstate New York. An emotional Stewart commented on Ward's death at a news conference in Georgia. SOUNDBITE: TONY STEWART, NASCAR CHAMPION, SAYING: "This has been one of the toughest tragedies I've ever had to deal with, both professionally and personally. This is something that will definitely affect my life forever." The three-time champion said he wants Ward's family to know he's praying for them everyday. He says he took time off out of respect for Ward's family. SOUNDBITE: TONY STEWART, NASCAR CHAMPION, SAYING: "It's given me the time to think about life and how easy it is to take it for granted... I think that being back in the car this week with my racing family will help me get through this difficult time." Results from the crash investigation are pending. But early on, authorities said there was no evidence of criminal behavior by Stewart.
