Theodore Wafer gives an emotional apology at his sentencing. SOUNDBITE: THEODORE WAFER, CONVICTED MURDERER, SAYING: "I only wish I could take this terrible tragedy back." The Michigan man will spend at least 17 years in prison before he is eligible for parole. Wafer shot and killed 19 year old Renisha McBride after she banged on his front door in surburban Detroit last November. The drunk teen was apparently seeking help after crashing her car. Wafer said he was in fear of his life. The judge teared up as she delivered the sentence. SOUNDBITE: DANA MARGARET HATHAWAY, JUDGE, SAYING: "I would call it the worst mistake of your life, but I don't know if you can ever use the word mistake to describe a murder." McBride's parents filed a $10 million wrongful death suit against Wafer after his criminal trial ended.
