The front line can be anywhere in Syria. Amateur video which cannot be independently verified by Reuters appears to show rebel forces striking a government helicopter. This, in a country after more than three years of war, where rubble-lined streets have become part of the nation's fabric. Meanwhile, Syrian TV reports that government forces launched air strikes and ground attacks on several targets held by the al-Qaeda affiliated, Nusra Front on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights. It's a war that has already claimed the lives of more than 190,000 people. And against this backdrop, UN Special Envoy Staffan Mistura arrives for his first visit to Damascus, seeking a peaceful resolution to the Syrian conflict. He is expected to request a permanent residence in Damascus, unlike his predecessors who stayed outside the country. He is also due to meet Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as well as figures from the domestic opposition. An effort for peace in a country where the death toll regularly rises above 200.
