Greg Abbott takes the oath of office to become Texas governor, taking over after Rick Perry's 14-year tenure. Jillian Kitchener reports.

Republican Greg Abbott is sworn in as the new governor of Texas, after serving more than a decade as the Texas attorney general. He's a devout Christian, who pledges to fight the Obama administration over border security... and grow the Texas economy. And with that, he takes over from Rick Perry -- the longest-serving governor in Texas history. (SOUNDBITE) FORMER GOVERNOR RICK PERRY, SAYING: "The one constant has been my belief in conservative ideas... " Now considered a Republican candidate for the 2016 presidential election, Perry's farewell speech was full of ideals that Texans had come know during his 14 years in office: (SOUNDBITE) FORMER GOVERNOR RICK PERRY, SAYING: "and that Texans, uninhibited by over taxation and excess regulation can make the most of freedom." Abbott is seen by many Texans as less charismatic and more measured than Perry. His says that being in a wheelchair for most of his adult life, after being struck by a fallen tree, has made him a stronger person. And he's ready to lead the State of Texas.
