Thousands of Yemenis take to the streets in the biggest demonstration yet against the Houthi group that dominates Yemen, two days after the president's resignation left the country in political limbo. Justin Mitchell reports.

In Yemen's capital, people take to the streets demanding Houthi rebels leave. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) PROTESTER RAMZI AL-AMRI, SAYING: "We are protesting now to overthrow the armed militias and kick them out of the capital Sanaa." The Houthis are Shiite Muslims from the northern part of Yemen. They have taken control of most of the capital, leading to the resignation of the president and parliament Protesters denounced both the Houthis and the mainly Sunni al-Qaeda, whose Yemen franchise is one of its most dangerous. Many protesters also believe the Houthis are in league with former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was toppled in 2011 during the Arab Spring.
