A bomb disposal robot probes the damaged undercarriage of a car in Belfast, where a device exploded on Wednesday night. It was the latest of four separate incidents in the area, now being investigated by police. No one was injured in the blast, but residents were evacuated from the immediate area and the road was closed off. A railway line was also closed after police received reports of a suspected bomb nearby, and suspicious objects were found in two other security alerts in Belfast. It remains unclear whether these incidents are linked, or whether they may signal a return to the political violence that plagued northern Ireland for decades.
