Thousands of protesters rally in Athens to send an anti-austerity message to Europe ahead of crunch debt talks. Gavino Garay reports.

Thousands are taking to the streets in Greece to show their support for a new leftist government, ahead of debt talks with lenders. They say Eurozone needs to stand united, and their country needs help. With many of the protesters out of work, they're standing behind their government's refusal to give in to harsh German austerity measures. Some even mocking German Chancellor Angela Merkel. (SOUNDBITE)(Greek) PROTESTER, DIMITRIS VASILAKIS, SAYING: "We want to support the government's negotiation, Europe has to understand that without solidarity between countries, then Europe cannot stand. Europe is made up of nations, not bankers. If austerity policies continue, Europe will crumble, united Europe as we know it will crumble, that's why we are supporting the government." (SOUNDBITE)(Greek) PROTESTER, MARINA EVANGELOU, SAYING: "We have stopped being afraid. We support the government's efforts, and we are hoping for the best outcome." A recent opinion poll showed that nearly three-quarters of Greeks believe their prime minister's negotiating strategy will pay off.
