Opening arguments begin in New York in the terrorism trial of Abid Naseer. The Pakistani man is accused of taking part in an al Qaeda plot to carry out attacks in the U.S. and Europe in 2008 and 2009... He was arrested in April 2009, during high-profile raids across northwest England. A U.S. prosecutor told jurors that Naseer's plan to bomb a shopping center in England was described in a "chilling" letter to Osama bin Laden. Before the trial, she said that letter was recovered in the military raid that killed bin Laden. Twenty-eight year-old Naseer is representing himself at trial and faces life in prison if convicted.
