Somalia's al Shabaab militants are claiming responsibility for the bombing of a hotel in Mogadishu, which killed at least 10 people including a lawmaker and wounded two ministers. Mana Rabiee reports.

Al Shabaab Islamist militants say they detonated a bomb at the entrance of this hotel in the Somali capitol Mogadishu. They stormed inside where politicians had gathered, killing at least 10 people. Police say a lawmaker was among the dead and two ministers were also injured, including the Deputy Prime Minister. (SOUNDBITE) (Somali) UNNAMED MOGADISHU RESIDENT, SAYING: "I escaped through the rear exit of the hotel but on my way out I saw a lot of people lying dead on the ground. I couldn't believe it, I was very shocked." The militants -- who want to topple the Western-backed federal government and impose its strict version of Islamic sharia law -- have carried our guerrilla-style gun assaults and suicide bombings as part of their operation to retake this coastal city.
