The long-awaited truce in east Ukraine appeared finally to have taken hold on Wednesday. Ukrainian military vehicles were seen moving -- just outside the eastern town of AR-TE-ME-VISK -- while pro-Russian rebels were reportedly pulling their artillery from the front. For the first time in weeks, Ukraine's army is reporting NO combat fatalities -- by far the most unambiguous signal yet that the European-brokered truce may be working as planned. The military says it's still too early for it to begin withdrawing its own heavy guns, waiting for firm evidence that the rebels are doing their part. But it's also acknowledging that most of the front in this ten-months-long war is now ... "quiet". THAT suggests the military could push ahead with implementing the truce -- a truce that appeared dead in the water only last week.
