ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) The White House celebrated the luck of the Irish by dyeing the water in the South Lawn fountain a bright green on Tuesday (March 17). The tradition started in 2009 when First Lady Michelle Obama brought over a version of St. Patrick's Day festivities celebrated in her native Chicago where the local river is colored green. Later in the morning, U.S. President Barack Obama will welcome Ireland's Prime Minister Enda Kenny to the Oval Office for a St. Patrick's Day visit. The original South Fountain was installed in 1865 and featured classical fish figures, according to the White House Museum.
