World solar plane bid starts next leg

PLEASE NOTE: VIDEO QUALITY AS INCOMING Solar Impulse 2 began the next leg of its round-the-world journey as it took off from Ahmedabad in India on Wednesday (March 18) Its two pilots are making an unprecedented attempt to fly around the world on solar power alone, seeking to prove that flying is possible without using fossil fuel. Solar Impulse 2 will have stopovers in Myanmar and China before crossing the Pacific Ocean and flying across the United States and southern Europe to arrive back in Abu Dhabi. On its five-month journey of 35,000 km (22,000 miles), the engines will be powered only by solar energy.
