Hollande, Merkel, Rajoy seek to repatriate bodies of plane crash dead

The leaders of Germany, France and Spain say they're working together to find and repatriate the remains of those killed in the Germanwings Airbus A320 crash in the French Alps. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy held a joint news conference in Seyne-les-Alpes on Wednesday. one day after the air crash of a Germanwings Airbus A320, that killed all 150 passengers and crew that were on board. "To conserve the bodies, whenever it's possible to do so, conserve the remains of that destroyed plane, when the investigation is able to provide some results. And because also, to give a way of access to the families... I am certain that all the remains that we are able to retrieve, identify, and repatriate the bodies of the victims to the families," Hollande told reporters. His words were echoed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who thanked France for their efforts on behalf of Germany. Seventy-two passengers on board the flight were believed to be German. "It is a good feeling that at such a difficult time we are standing together in close friendship. Dear Francois, I thank you from the heart on behalf of millions of Germans who treasure this friendship between our countries," Merkel said. Spanish Prime Minister Rajoy, whose government is reporting the loss of 51 Spanish citizens, spoke to the familes of those who died. "We want to ease your pain. And we know it's not easy. Because we know that what's happened is probably the worst that could ever happen to a human being. That they know we are with them... We want to identify the victims, repatriate them in the best condition possible. We are all going to work together, and we're going to rise to the circumstances, in a moment so complicated and difficult like this one, that so many have had to live through," he said.
