New Jersey Sen. Menendez indicted on federal corruption charges

A Justice Department spokesman says Democratic Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey was indicted on Wednesday on corruption charges. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

The 61-year old was indicted in New Jersey on one count of conspiracy, one count of violating the travel act, seven counts of bribery and three counts of honest services fraud. The senator was also charged with one count of making false statements. The Justice Department says Menendez allegedly accepted gifts from a Florida doctor in exchange for using his Senate office to benefit him. Menendez, the former chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has denied any wrongdoing.
