Tribesmen in eastern Yemen have come together to fight al Qaeda militants who took control of towns in the Hadramawt province two days ago. The tribal alliance wants to help restore security after the militants seized buildings, broke into banks and freed prisoners. Yemeni troops loyal to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi fled the region after offering little resistance which underscores the country's collapse of central authority. That lack of leadership could create a vacuum allowing al Qaeda room to entrench itself further in the country's remote eastern reaches. In western Yemen, allied forces led by Saudi Arabia are battling Shi'ite Houthi rebels who are loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
