Florida Senator Marco Rubio is expected to announce his bid for presidency, Monday evening. Advisors say he'll portray himself as the Republican most ready to handle threats to homeland security and lobby for increased defense spending. Analysts say Rubio's national security stance could attract primary voters in key conservative states such as South Carolina, one of the early voting states in the primary season. And he'll need the numbers. The Republican field is expected to grow, with one-time mentor and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush likely to become the front-runner with his expected declaration in the near future. Rubio is already up against Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky. Rubio's stance on immigration and Cuban policy are already in the spotlight. ...and he'll be working hard to move beyond the image he presented while taking a water break during the rebuttal to President Obama's 2013 State of the Union address. The Cuban-American is expected to announce his bid for the Republican nomination with a speech at Miami's Freedom Tower, where thousands of Cuban exiles fleeing the Castro regime were first registered by U.S. authorities. He's hoping it will kick off the momentum he'll need for the long campaign ahead.
