IMF sees 3.5 pct global growth

The IMF sees growth diverging among the world's major economies this year. It predicts that Russia fall into a recession.

SOUNDBITE: OLIVIER BLANCHARD, CHIEF ECONOMIST, INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND (ENGLISH) SAYING: "This global number reflects two main evolutions. The first one is an increase in the growth rate of advanced economies from 1.8% last year to 2.4% this year, but it is offset by a decrease in the growth rate in emerging markets in developing economies from 4.6% last year to 4.3% this year." SOUNDBITE: OLIVIER BLANCHARD, CHIEF ECONOMIST, INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND (ENGLISH) SAYING: "If I were to characterize what is happening in one sentence, I would use the same words as the MD, Managing Director, used last week, which is moderate and uneven." SOUNDBITE: OLIVIER BLANCHARD, CHIEF ECONOMIST, INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND (ENGLISH) SAYING: "We think the business climate is not good, we think the price of oil has major adverse effects, and that is why we are forecasting a recession (in Russia)."
