PLEASE NOTE: EDIT CONTAINS MATERIAL THAT WAS ORIGINALLY 4:3 Brazilian police arrest the treasurer of the country's ruling Workers' Party in a widening investigation into corruption at state-run oil company Petrobras. Joao Vaccari's arrest was ordered after five people testified against him in plea bargaining deals. It's alleged engineering firms hired by Petrobras overcharged the company by more than 200 million dollars and passed the profits to the Workers' Party through Vaccari. His arrest brings the scandal closer to President Dilma Rousseff if it's found the cash helped to fund her election campaigns in 2010 and 2014. The Party said Vaccari was leaving his post for legal reasons. A party statement expressed confidence in his innocence. Vaccari denied the allegations last week before a congressional inquiry commission. Rousseff's denied any knowledge of the scandal which mainly operated while she was chairwoman of the company.
