An important announcement Tuesday from Saudi Arabia-led coalition forces conducting a month long campaign of air strikes in Yemen against Houthi militia . (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SPOKESMAN FOR SAUDI-LED COALITION, BRIGADIER GENERAL AHMED ASSERI, SAYING: "Today, the leadership of the coalition has announced that it has ended the Decisive Storm Operation in accordance with a request by the Yemen government and his excellency the President, who felt that the main objectives of Decisive Storm were achieved." In Aden, smoke billowed from an air strike in the city shortly before the Saudi announcement was made as fighting continued between local militias and Houthi forces. The Shi'ite Houthi, who are loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, had taken control of large portions of the country forcing current president Abd-Ruabbu Mansour Hadi into exile in Saudi Arabia. The deal to end the air strikes was welcomed by Iran, who have been backing their fellow Shi'ite Houthi. It was also welcomed by President Hadi who thanked the allied forces and chastised the Houthi militia. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) YEMEN PRESIDENT, ABD-RABBU MANSOUR HADI, SAYING: "I say with all honesty, we never imagined the scale of hatred and the pursuit for revenge from them. That evil could take over their minds and conscience which allowed them to bring the country to the brink." A statement carried by the Saudi state news agency said the country is now seeking to back a political process which combines political, diplomatic and military action that will enable a secure and stable future for Yemen.
