President Obama is announcing new restrictions on the use of military equipment by local police following unrest over the death of black men at the hands of police. Lisa Bernhard reports.

President Barack Obama announcing new restrictions that will prevent local police from using the kind of military equipment that stirred controversy in the wake of the Ferguson riots. The White House saying Monday it will ban military-grade equipment such as explosive-resistant vehicles that resemble army tanks ... and require justification for the use of riot gear . The move is an attempt to improve race relations and build trust between police forces and the communities they serve.. after a string of high-profile, fatal encounters between officers and black men led to national protests and sometimes violent demonstrations.
