It's a pen with a difference...usable on almost any surface, instantly transferring your handwriting onto your phone. It's called Phree - spelled P.H.R.E.E - and was invented by Israeli firm OTM technologies. Gilad Lederer is co-CEO. SOUNDBITE (English) GILAD LEDERER, CO-CEO, CO-FOUNDER OF OTM TECHNOLOGIES, SAYING: "Phree actually comes up with a new category. This is a category where you write anywhere you want on any surface but you create directly digital ink on the target device that you want to work on. This target device can be a watch or a phone or a TV or virtual reality glass so you don't need the touch screen." A patented laser optical sensor at the pen's tip is the key. It tracks motion on surfaces in three dimensions and the data is transmitted to any Bluetooth device in the blink of an eye. Handwriting can be quickly translated into Word font and shared with colleagues. Fellow CEO Opher Kinrot. SOUNDBITE (English) CO-FOUNDER, CO-CEO OPHER KINROT OF OTM TECHNOLOGIES, SAYING: "The accuracy is really very high, about two thousand DPI, which is more than enough and also people who use it tell us it feels like a pencil because it really feels very natural so you can write with it like you write with a pencil or pen." A Kickstarter campaign has already raised the 100,000 dollars required to start production many times over. Phree will retail at around 200 dollars when launched next year.
