For Palestinians in Gaza, the long wait is over, and they are able once again to pass through the Rafah Crossing into Egypt. The crossing has only been open once in recent months, and that was only to allow people to enter Gaza. Those who needed to leave were stuck. This man lost his job in Jordan, and because he lost his job, he lost his Jordanian residency, and he couldn't pay his rent. But border authorities said the crossing will only be open for three days. Families lineup to take advantage of it. The crossing has been largely shut since 2013 due to political tensions between Cairo and Gaza's Hamas government. But a decision by an Egyptian court overturning a ruling that labeled Hamas a terrorist group is seen as an indication that relations may improve. That will be a welcome change to those who find themselves on the wrong side when the gates are shut.
