ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION Actors took the fields of Waterloo in Belgium on Friday (June 19) for a spectacular re-enactment of the Battle of Waterloo, 200 years after European armies died in their thousands in the same location. The event began on Thursday (June 18) with descendants of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington shaking hands at the location of the battle that ended French imperial dominance over Europe and ushered in a century of fragile peace. A music-and-fireworks spectacular, featuring several hundred of the 5,000 battlefield re-enactors gathering for the weekend, marked the end of the bicentenary day on Thursday. The two days of battle re-enactments culminating on Friday are the biggest ever of its kind, marking the milestone anniversary. Some 200,000 visitors were expected at Waterloo for the event, which brought to life the bloody summer Sunday 200 years ago when tens of thousands of men died on the field.
