ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Iran and major powers will continue negotiations on an historic nuclear deal past the July 7 deadline for a long-term agreement, European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said on Tuesday (July 7). "We are continuing to negotiate for the next couple of days. This does not mean we are extending our deadline," Mogherini told reporters. "I told you one week ago more or less we are interpreting in a flexible way our deadline, which means we are taking the time, the days we will need to finalize the agreement, which is something that is still possible even if now we are getting into the difficult time. I am here to stay, to continue together with all the teams. All the six teams are here, together with the one of the European Union to continue the work on the text and to continue negotiations. We have a space. It is difficult, but we all know we have a very important responsibility that we cannot miss," she said. The deal under discussion between Iran, Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States is aimed at curbing Tehran's most sensitive nuclear work for a decade or more, in exchange for relief from sanctions that have slashed Iran's oil exports and crippled its economy. The negotiators missed a June 30 deadline for a final agreement and then gave themselves until Tuesday.
