Following a massive computer hack at OPM, the federal Office of Personnel Management... ...which exposed the personal data of more than 21 million people... The White House says the agency's embattled leader has resigned. (SOUNDBITE) (English) WHITE HOUSE SPOKESMAN, JOSH EARNEST, SAYING: "I can tell you that Director Archuleta did offer her resignation of her own volition. She recognizes, as the White House does, that the urgent challenges currently facing the Office of Personnel Management require a manager with a specialized set of skills and experiences." Calls have been growing for Archuleta to step down ever since news broke of a data breach months ago Initially it was estimated that some 4 million people had been affected. But on Thursday, investigators confirmed it was millions more. Some U.S. officials say China is responsible for the hacks -- a claim China denies. Now, with Archuleta out, Beth Cobert of the budget office will assume the role of acting director... ...as OPM deals with the fallout of the latest security breach.
