Hurry up and wait. That's what Greeks are doing as the fate of their country's economy hangs in the balance. Members of the ruling party arrived at parliament Friday to discuss the package submitted to euro zone creditors a day earlier. Most were optimistic the plan would be accepted when parliament votes on it later in the day. I believe lawmakers will recognise the significance and be mature about it, this lawmaker said. This is a long and painful battle, another said. I think it will end with the steps that we are taking. The plan calls for tax hikes and pension reforms- measures that residents voted against only one week ago. But the alternative- leaving the European Union- is even more difficult to swallow for some. No Greek wants to leave Europe, this person said. We are all very sad because we don't want to leave. (SOUNDBITE) (Greek) STUDENT, YANNIS, 21, SAYING: "To split from the euro zone, to leave the euro and have a rupture with the European Union would bring great misery to the Greek people. However, I think that they could have done things differently so that we weren't left in this situation, this fear, this terror." Euro zone finance ministers will meet to discuss the plan on Saturday.
