U.S. President Barack Obama praised African economic growth Saturday during a business summit in Kenya. Obama made the remarks at an address at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi on Saturday. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT, BARACK OBAMA, SAYING: "I wanted to be here because Africa is on the move. Africa is one of the fastest growing regions in the world. People are being lifted out of poverty, incomes are up, the middle class is growing, and young people like you are harnessing technology to change the way Africa is doing businesses, President Kenyatta alluded, alluded to. And that creates incredible opportunities for Africans and for the world. It means more growth and trade, it creates all jobs in our countries. It is good for all of us. This continent needs to be a future hub of global growth, not just African growth." Security was tight in the city as police blocked major roads and emptied streets of traffic in the usually congested capital. Kenya is a vital ally of the West in the battle against the Somali Islamist group al Shabaab, and Obama is likely to focus talks in Nairobi on security cooperation. Later in the day Obama will pay tribute to victims and survivors of the 1998 U.S. embassy bombing.
