Hollywood actor Zac Efron is set to star in a big screen adaptation of Baywatch. The popular TV series saw Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff as Malibu life guards. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is going to be starring in and co-producing the movie. He tweeted on Monday that it would be "big, fun and R-rated" and welcomed Efron to the team. SOUNDBITE Actor, Zac Efron, saying (English) "It's going to be badass. I think we're going like pretty big with it and I don't think it's going to be much like the old Baywatch to be honest. I think we're going to kind of reinvent it in a big way, and he has big plans for it. I know he's very ambitious." Efron's latest movie, 'We Are Your Friends' also features R-rated behaviour. Premiering in London on Tuesday, it follows the lives of a group of friends caught up in the drug-fuelled LA party scene. When asked whether Efron's own issues with drugs and alochol informed the role, he said playing the part was a cathartic experience. SOUNDBITE Actor, Zac Efron, saying (English) "I feel better than ever and this movie was a great stepping stone for me because I got to get a lot of it off my chest. It was fun to kind of navigate through it and revisit it - the good and the bad - and I know it's authentic. I know it's cool. I think it was a spiritual release for me." 'We Are Your Friends' will be released in cinemas across the UK on August 27.
