STORY: What if you could lessen your carbon footprint and live anywhere you want? This egg-shaped dwelling called the Ecocapsule might just be the answer. It's designed to take up minimal space and provide maximum comfort and storage. Co-creator Tomas Zacek says the best feature - is that its completely self-sustaining. (SOUNDBITE) (Slovak) ECOCAPSULE CO-CREATOR, TOMAS ZACEK, SAYING: "The main advantage of this type of living is freedom. You can live wherever you want, you don't have to pay bills for living and you can stay amid nature. This capsule runs entirely on electric energy." Thermal insulation protects inhabitants from harsh environments and on top of the capsule is a wind turbine, as well as solar panels. There's also a massive battery, explains co-creator Matej Pospisil, that stores surplus energy that can be used later. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ECOCAPSULE CO-CREATOR, MATEJ POSPISIL, SAYING: "We used classic 12.5 x 12.5cm solar panels. One panel gives about half a volt, we have 288 of them placed on the roof which, connected in this way, gives about 600 watts. This output, plus about 740 watts from the wind propeller ensures the Ecocapsule energy system is self-sufficient." As for the ovular shape - the team say it helps maximize energy retention and the user's ability to collect rain water and morning dew. The structure walls are lined with special water filters that remove 99.9 per cent of bacteria, making the water suitable for drinking. It looks like the team have thought of it all … Now you just need to decide if you'll ship your new digs or hook the Ecocapsule up to your car and travel in green style.
