No survivors in Papua plane crash: Indonesia

Indonesian officials say all 54 passengers were killed in the plane crash in Papua on Sunday, as families wait to receive the bodies of their loved ones. Yiming Woo reports.

Indonesia says there are no survivors from the Trigana Air crash in Papua province. It took search and rescue teams two days to find the wreckage and passengers in the remote forest. During a news conference, rescue agency official Heronimus Guru was asked about the state of the bodies. (SOUNDBITE) (Bahasa Indonesia) DEPUTY OPERATIONAL OFFICER OF NATIONAL SEARCH AND RESCUE AGENCY, HERONIMUS GURU SAYING: "It is not right to talk about the condition of the bodies here in this news conference. Everything is in pieces." At Sentani airport, where the ill-fated plane departed from, families are waiting to receive the bodies of their loved ones. (SOUNDBITE) (Bahasa Indonesia) SON OF PASSENGER YUNUS SETAMANGGI, WILLIAM, SAYING: "I hope the government can bring my father's body safely to Jayapura, so we can bury him decently in the cemetery." Officials say the black box flight recorder has been found and should provide investigators with some answers. Trigana Air is on the European Union list of banned carriers.
