STORY: The Greek Coast Guard has once again had to scramble to rescue Syrian refugees after their dinghy capsized. They rescued eight and recovered two bodies. Five people are missing. Thousands of Syrians continue risking their lives in an attempt to reach cash-strapped and overwhelmed Greece. Those who make it to Islands like Lesbos, people like Hadi, are desperately trying to secure ferry tickets to get to mainland Greece. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MIGRANT FROM SYRIA, HADI, SAYING: "Water no, food no, nothing. Ticket no. Sleeping in the street, sleeping in the street." The crush of migrants and refugees streaming into Europe is overwhelming governments, aid organizations, and citizens. Over the weekend radical right wing groups in Germany staged violent protests outside a refugee shelter. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said all EU countries have to do their part to respond to the crisis as she condemned the protests. (SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN CHANCELLOR ANGELA MERKEL SAYING: "It's repulsive to see how right-wing extremists and neo-Nazis are voicing their hatred. But it is just as disgraceful to see how German citizens, and even families with children are supporting this by marching along with them." EU foreign policy chief Frederica Mogherini says people must stop pointing fingers. (SOUNDBITE) (English) EUROPEAN UNION FOREIGN POLICY CHIEF, FEDERICA MOGHERINI, SAYING: "What we should do more is to work together also with Turkey but also with other countries, not only to support them in hosting this large number of refugees, but also to help in the management of the flow and most of all to try to solve the root cause," Which is a tall order given the root causes include the Syrian Civil war, the war in Afghanistan, and various crises and conflicts in Africa.
