Dozens of wounded servicemen were rushed to hospitals in Kiev. They'd been protecting the parliament building from a crowd of angry nationalist protesters, when someone hurled a grenade. Government officials say a 24-year-old soldier was killed and at least 120 others were injured in the attack. The government blames the violence on the main nationalist party, who were protesting a bill that backed giving more autonomy to rebel-held areas in eastern Ukraine. The nationalists say the bill plays into Russia's hands and puts Kiev at risk of losing control of the region. The injured servicemen say they were under orders not to attack the protesters when the explosives were thrown. (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) UNIDENTIFIED UKRAINIAN SERVICEMAN, SAYING: "We are not allowed to beat them. We must simply stand, protect and not let them in." Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is condemning the violence.... although the vote was passed. Parliamentarians decided by a landslide in favor of the bill that supports a law giving self-management rights to separatists controlling parts of eastern Ukraine.
