More than 8,000 people gather in Paris to urge their government to help the hundreds of thousands of migrants trying desperately to get to Europe. Many of them are escaping Syria's civil war. Thousands have died during the journey. (SOUNDBITE) (French) DEMONSTRATOR, THOMAS AKEL, SAYING: "We have to help these people. They are coming to France to find a welcoming land and a free land, we have to help them so they can live with their families, with their children. We can't abandon them, we have to help them." European ministers are struggling to find a solution, as governments squabble over their share of migrants to take in. Germany expects to receive 800,000 migrants and refugees this year.
