ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Former Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour kicked off his first tour in almost a decade with a sold out concert on Saturday (September 12) in Pula, a coastal Croatian city on the northern Adriatic. The concert, which was held in a unique setting of a packed Roman amphitheatre, marked the start of a European tour promoting his new album titled Rattle That Lock, due for release on September 18. Gilmour said he especially chose the historic arena in Pula, because he wanted a unique setting to be part of the audience's concert experience. "I like people's experience of a show to be tied to a place a little bit. And if it's a beautiful old place, that's better. And they have a memory that... they know where it was, they remember that moment. It's not a sports arena or a stadium somewhere, it's something they can tie a memory to," Gilmour said. He added that the new album, promoted by the title track single which sampled the French national railways chime, has songs with new meanings, relevant to the world of today.
