14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed says he was just trying to impress his teacher by showing off the clock he made... When police showed up. (SOUNDBITE) (English) STUDENT AHMED MOHAMED SAYING: "I was scared. I didn't do anything wrong, but I felt like a criminal.' Mohamed was arrested, accused of making a hoax bomb. He was later released, with no charges filed. At a news conference, Irving, Texas police defended their reaction against fierce criticism -- saying student safety was their utmost concern. (SOUNDBITE) (English) IRVING POLICE CHIEF LARRY BOYD SAYING: "The student would only say it was a clock and was not forthcoming at that time about any other details." But fellow freshman, Mekiah Morgan, says Mohamed was known for his inventions. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MOHAMED'S CLASSMATE, MEKIAH MORGAN, SAYING: "He built a radio out of cardboard, fixed a teacher's projector, built the camera out of cardboard. He fixed my tablet. I mean, he's a real smart kid." Skills that Mohamed will now have a chance to show off at the White House... ...after receiving an invitation from President Barack Obama on Wednesday.
