ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary called on her Republican counterpart, Donald Trump, "to start behaving like a president" on Friday (September 18), saying she was "appalled" after he failed to correct a man who said President Obama was a Muslim and not American at a town hall event in Rochester, New Hampshire. "He knew or should've known that what that man was asking was not only way out of bounds, it was untrue," Clinton told reporters. "And he should have from the beginning repudiated that kind of rhetoric, that level of hatefulness in a questioner in an audience that he was appearing before." Trump was active in what was called the "birther" movement which claimed that President Barack Obama did not have a valid U.S. birth certificate and was therefore ineligble to be president. The president's opponents have repeatedly said Obama is a Muslim, although the president has identified himself as a Protestant.
