Thousands of migrants make yet another bid to march across the border from Turkey into Greece. It's a stalemate that's been going on for most of the past week. Scuffles broke out as Turkish police blocked their way. The local governor says they won't be allowed to pass unless they're invited by another country. Later the migrants were taken to an open air sports arena to spend the night. Some spoke of their dreams of a better life in Europe. (SOUNDBITE)(English) ZEHRA, SYRIAN REFUGEE FROM ALEPPO, SAYING: "They are all looking and seeking, all looking for a better life and comfortable life for their children and themselves and their families." Hundreds of migrants who've made it to Greece were celebrating their arrival on the mainland from the island of Lesbos. From the port of Piraeus they were taken by bus to a railway station, from where many will join the tens of thousands trekking across the Balkan peninsula to northern and western Europe. Some say they've lost all hope of peace in their homelands. (SOUNDBITE)(English) UNIDENTIFIED SYRIAN REFUGEE, AN ENGINEERING TEACHER FROM HOMS, SAYING: "Every country in the world will make decision to back war, and war, and war in that country. No-one want to solve this problem. We, with my friend, come looking for hope, for future." (SOUNDBITE)(English) ABDUL MAZIM, SYRIAN REFUGEE FROM HASAKA, SAYING: "In my country there is terrorist and we are simple people in Hasaka. There is very problem there." The European Union is due to hold an emergency summit next week to push for a united response. In the meantime the United Nations is warning migrant numbers will grow in the coming days and their flow may fragment further into more new routes.
