Balkan nations trade insults over migrants

The march of migrants into Croatia continues as thousands of others are plucked from overloaded boats off the Italian coast. Paul Chapman reports.

Some arrived by bus, others on foot, but the flood of migrants crossing from Serbia into Croatia looking to reach north and western Europe isn't abating. These were the scenes on Sunday as a new day brought new arrivals. Hungary's accusing Croatia of violating its sovereignty by sending the migrants by bus and train over their joint border. Croatia says Hungary is using brute force to keep the migrants out and the busses and trains will keep running. More than 20, 000 people, many of them refugees fleeing the war in Syria, have crossed into Croatia since September 15th when Hungary closed its border with Serbia. Elsewhere other migrants are still risking their lives to reach Europe by boat. The Italian coastguard says almost 4, 700 were rescued off the Libya on Saturday. European Union leaders are due to meet on Wednesday in the hope of reaching a common policy on how to handle the massive influx of migrants.
