And now there are two. Tesla rolled out its highly anticipated second model, a luxury electric crossover sports utility, the Model X. CEO Elon Musk said any type of vehicle can be made electric. (SOUNDBITE) ELON MUSK, CEO, TESLA MOTORS (ENGLISH) SAYING: "We showed that you can do it with a sedan, and now, we're going to show that you can do it with an SUV." Musk unmasked the cool features: gull-wing doors that unlike those of the past, glide upward than to the side, allowing the car to park in tight spots without striking other cars. The SUV can tow 5,000 pounds while carrying 7 people. It can travel 250 miles on a single charge. And its windshield gives a panoramic view over the driver's head. Price: as high as $144,000. Tesla says 25,000 customers have put in pre-orders. Roth Capital analyst Craig Irwin said the Model X will be "... a big kicker for growth, and the front end of the curve will have pretty juicy margins," given that it'll feature options customers can add. "It should be a nice boost to financial performance." Tesla's stock zooming higher in early trading, adding on to its nearly 11 percent gain this year. The stock vastly outperforming Daimler and BMW.
