Tom Hiddleston, Joan Collins, and Guy Ritchie were among the top guests at the BFI Luminous Gala in London on Tuesday night. The glamorous dinner is an auction event to raise funds to preserve the BFI National Archive -- the UK's national collection of film and television, which is also one of the biggest heritage collections in the world. (Soundbite) Actor, Tom Hiddleston, saying (English): "I'm very much hoping that I'll be among the least wealthy people in the room. I think there are people with more money to give than I do. But I'll try and up the ante for sure. I'm hoping the prices will go far beyond my budget, that's my hope just for the BFI." Oscar-winning actress Geena Davis, best known for her role in "Thelma & Louise", will be giving a special talk this week during the London Film Festival on media images of gender. She said the entertainment industry still had a long way to go to achieve equality between the sexes. (Soundbite) Actress, Geena Davis, saying (English): "Well it's way past time that we had more parity in Hollywood. Certainly the fact that the ratio of male to female characters has been the same since 1946 is pretty depressing." The BFI Luminous Gala marks the start of the London Film Festival, which kicks off on Wednesday (October 7) with the European premiere of "Suffragette".
