ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION As night fell over the Slovenian-Austrian border on Friday (October 30) evening, tensions remained high among the thousands of migrants waiting to continue their journeys through Europe. Austrian police couldn't confirm exactly how many people had crossed over the border but said that by 1400GMT some 5,000 people had been transported to other parts of the country in buses and trains. However several thousand were still waiting on the Slovenian side in Sentilj in the early evening, many trying to jump barriers as police and army tried to maintain order and asked the crowds to stay calm. Temperatures started to drop after the sun went down, and migrants built fires to keep warm, anticipating a long wait ahead before they'd be allowed to cross into Austria. The situation at the Slovenian-Austrian border escalated after Slovenian authorities began transporting large groups of migrants from the border with Croatia directly to Sentilj by train earlier in the week.
